State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP) offer free, unbiased Medicare counseling in North Carolina and South Carolina. These are not insurance agents — they work for you.

SHIP counselors are trained volunteers and staff who help Medicare beneficiaries at no cost. They do not sell insurance and have no financial stake in which plan you choose.
In North Carolina, the program is called SHIIP — Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program. Counselors are available in all 100 NC counties through local agencies on aging and community organizations.
South Carolina's program is also called SHIIP. Counselors serve all 46 SC counties and are especially active during the Annual Enrollment Period each fall.
