Loris is a small town in northern Horry County, founded on December 7, 1887 as a railroad town on the Wilmington, Chadbourn and Conway Railroad. The Bank of Loris opened in 1907 in the first brick building, telephone lines to Conway followed in 1909 and a high school opened in 1920. The town had 2,449 residents at the 2020 Census.
