About Seneca

Seneca is an Oconee County city of 8,850 residents (2020 census), founded in 1873 as a railroad town where the Blue Ridge Railroad crossed the Atlanta and Charlotte Air Line. It is named for the nearby Cherokee town of Isunigu, known to English colonists as "Seneca Town." Clemson University is nearby and Duke Energy's Oconee Nuclear Station sits on Lake Keowee.
