Simpsonville was incorporated on August 13, 1901, the same year the Woodside Mill opened and became the town's largest employer. It is named for Peter Simpson, a farmer from Laurens County who served as blacksmith and postmaster. The 2020 Census counted 23,354 residents, up from 18,238 in 2010. In October 2018 a winning $1.6 billion Mega Millions ticket was sold at a convenience store here.
Simpsonville is south of Greenville and close to the Greenville hospitals, including Prisma Health and Bon Secours St. Francis. Many residents here are newer to the area and may have moved from other states, which can open a special enrollment period. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are approved county by county, and Abilla Advisors can compare Greenville County options against your doctors and prescriptions at no cost to you.
