Socastee is a large community on the Intracoastal Waterway just west of Myrtle Beach, with 22,213 residents at the 2020 Census and a median age of 41. A land grant to Percival Pawley in 1711 refers to the area as Sawkastee, and in the 1870s it was a center for naval stores such as turpentine and tar, with a sawmill, distilleries, a cotton gin and a grist mill. A skirmish between small American and British forces took place near Socastee Creek in 1781, and the Socastee Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
Socastee is close to Grand Strand Medical Center and the Myrtle Beach medical corridor, so networks in Myrtle Beach matter most here. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are approved county by county, and Abilla Advisors can compare Horry County options against your doctors and prescriptions at no cost to you. Call 843-284-6815.
