$50–$200 per quarter; loaded on a benefit card or catalog order
How to Use It
Use your plan's OTC card at participating stores, or order from the plan's online catalog. Unused funds typically expire each quarter.

The OTC benefit is a supplemental allowance you can spend on approved health products — vitamins, pain relievers, cold medicine, bandages, blood pressure monitors, and more — without a prescription.

Plans typically load a fixed dollar amount onto a special benefit card each quarter (every 3 months). Common allowances range from $50–$200 per quarter. Unused balances usually do not roll over.

You can use your OTC benefit at major retailers (Walmart, CVS, Walgreens) or order online through your plan's OTC catalog. About 34% of Medicare Advantage plans in NC and SC include an OTC allowance.
