Preventive care is one of Medicare's most underutilized benefits. Medicare Part B covers a wide range of preventive screenings and wellness services at $0 cost when you use a participating provider.
Key free preventive services include: Welcome to Medicare visit (first year); Annual Wellness Visit (every year); mammograms; colonoscopy; flu, pneumonia, COVID-19, and hepatitis B vaccines; diabetes screenings; cardiovascular screenings; depression screenings; and bone mass measurement.
These services are free only when billed as preventive. If your doctor also treats a condition during the same visit, normal cost-sharing may apply.
